Me, you, he and we

September 5th, 2007

Neurotransmisores publishes a peculiar article in which describes the way each person expresses himself:

  • In the course of the conversations , it is peculiar the readjustments that we must do. It is not too easy to pass from “me” to “you” and vice versa.
  • There are people who say: I have; I say; I think.
  • Others see things through the others: you go; you have; you are.
  • Others speak almost always in third person: he says, he made, etc.
  • And finally they are those that speak in first person of the plural: we are, we have. Normally are people integrated totally into a group and they see their life interrelating in the group. The group is over everything, even of its own thought.

The question is: How do you express yourself?

Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo! Capacity that increases

September 3rd, 2007

Without making much uproar Hotmail has already released recently ,less than a month, his new interface, and so it increased the capacity of its storage, passing of 2GB to 5GB, this was sufficient  for almost having the doble of the capacity of storage of Gmail.

Nevertheless Yahoo! released several months back its version with unlimited capacity of storage, but apparently Hotmail has advantage because of the popular software for chatting.

It was rumored that Gmail had increased, by the way, its capacity of storage to almost 10GB, but now as you can appreciate at the moment only approaches 3GB.

A small problem arises, at least nowadays, because in any of these three cases the filling capacity seems to be attainable, at the momen, almost all the users does not  fill 50% of the total capacity.

Interesting idea of the Gmail team, they created a video in which they will add new scenes created by the users.

It is very funny to see the way of carrying the envelope from a hand to the other.

If you are interested in adding a video, you must visit this page of Gmail, where they give more information.

How to translate from a language to another language?

July 31st, 2007

Before beginning with this blog in several languages, I looked for a simple way to translate of a language to another language all the articles that I would write, because I searched a lot and I found many plugins for WordPress that could do this; but non of them was perfect, so I decided for the hardest option that was to create 10 blogs each one for each language, therefore I avoided many problems.

There was only a detail: I do not speak 10 languages and I wanted that the meaning of my article had the same sense in the 10 languages and, a translator translates literally the text and in most of cases they change the complete sense of the message.

Solution: first, write in my native language; then, translate it to the English and in this step, the sense of some sentences will have changed, that is the reason because we have to make the necessary modifications in this language so that the message is the same one that in the native language (it is necessary to know English); finally, translate it again to the native language, therefore will be able to be verified the message and it will be due to apply the changes necessary to obtain a good result as far as the message. Once you have the text very well structured in English, It simply will be necessary to translate in the other languages and will be because, there are lots of English translators

In my case, I write in Spanish and then, I translate my article in English, after I translate it again to Spanish to make changes in the English text, because It is probably that the Spanish translated text will have mistakes; and finally, I publish my articles in other languages.

Is there site for more search engines?

July 28th, 2007

This was a question that I ask myself when I noticed how big was Google (I must admit that it was not long time).

At present Google takes a great advantage to any other search engines, including Yahoo!, that a long time ago was the most popular finder.

Soon, from my point of view, Google is going to be considered a monopoly by its dimensions that I see that they are unattainable, There are many projects on search engines and I hope that these projects are good for competing with Google, I would not like to see the future of the Internet only one source to find information.

Sincerely I would like to create my own search engines (that is the reason I will study Computer science Engineering), but I find it difficult because I see the accelerated growth of this search engines and I cannot imagine the popularity it will have from now to 5 years but I hope doing that.

Google invades your privacy

July 25th, 2007

In the last years, Google has acquired a new facet, from a simple search engine to a gigantic company that every time grows and grows and is buying a lot of companies, that is the case of YouTube, and there it does not remain; there are companies that are bought by Google that pass unnoticed every month.

Everything has a limit and seems that Google now must be limited because every time collects more information. Did you know that when you read your email in Gmail, this one is scanned and remains stored by a pair of years? You will wonder why, well, it seems strange to receive 2 GB free; Google earns money with the advertisers of AdWords, because Google scans for the keywords of each mail. Then Google shows targeted ads and this generates a good amount of money.

Another case is the one of Google Earth that shows images supposedly that had to be secret, or another case is the one of Google Street View that is gaining a good amount of problems.

If you do not believe me that Google is invading your privacy, here you can see a video.

The best browser

July 23rd, 2007

Many criteria exist to decide which is the best browser:

According to its aspect
Because of its graphs and a more dynamic aspectt, I would chose Firefox

Personalisation
Here another point more for Firefox goes, because it is the browser who has greater amount of add-ons and therefore it molds itself to the user.

Security
Recently Firefox has been updated to improve its security, but according to a hacker, after to have operated bugs of each one affirmed that more surely it was Opera the best.

In my opinion
I know that there are many more criteria, nevertheless making a balance of all these, I could conclude that the best browser is Firefox.

Here the three best ones:

  1. Mozilla Firefox
  2. Opera
  3. Microsoft Internet Explorer (in its version 7 a great improvement was noticed)
