Intel quits the program OLPC
Intel abandoned the program “One Laptop Per Child” because of the pressure it received for abandoning its initial proyect of portable low-cost, PC Classmate.
It seemed that in July last year had finalized the fight to conquer the market for low-cost laptops; when Intel joined the project of OLPC to develop the XO, which was the competitor for PC Classmate.
PC Classmate is a project that is being tested in several countries, that is why Intel refused to abandon his project and thus their efforts. But prices are growing and now they are around the 200 dollars compared with 100 initially proposed.
